Vivian Sekandi joined Relman Colfax in June 2026 for a two-year term as a civil rights paralegal. She contributes to the firm’s civil rights litigation and counseling practices.
Vivian graduated from Duke University in May 2026 with a B.A. in International Comparative Studies and a Human Rights Certificate. Throughout college, she pursued opportunities to support immigrants, refugees, and individuals impacted by the criminal legal system. She interned with World Relief Durham’s Immigration Legal Services Department, where she assisted immigrants and refugees with USCIS applications. She also served as a restorative justice facilitator, leading structured restorative justice conferences for cases referred through the Durham Misdemeanor Diversion Program. As president of the Duke Justice Project, Vivian led advocacy initiatives focused on expanding reentry support and increasing educational programming for people impacted by incarceration. She also spent a summer at the Refugee Rights Clinic at the University of Cape Town in South Africa, where she assisted refugees and asylum seekers with legal research, affidavits, and applications for legal protection.
In her free time, Vivian enjoys exploring new coffee and matcha shops, trying new workout classes, and reading.
