Miriam Pierson is a Civil Rights Fellow at Relman Colfax. She joined the firm in 2025 and works in the civil rights litigation and counseling groups.
Before joining Relman Colfax, Miriam clerked for the Honorable Susan L. Carney of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and the Honorable Michael P. Shea of the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut.
In 2023, Miriam graduated from Yale Law School, where she participated in the Housing Clinic (Mortgage Foreclosure Track) for five semesters, and the Veterans Legal Assistance Clinic for two semesters. At graduation, Miriam was awarded Yale’s Charles G. Albom prize for excellence in appellate clinical advocacy. In addition to her clinical work, Miriam interned during law school for the Fair Housing Section of the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division, and for the AARP Foundation.
Prior to law school, Miriam worked to expand access to housing benefits programs as a Project Manager with the New York City Mayor’s Public Engagement Unit. In 2018, Miriam graduated from Swarthmore College with Highest Honors. At Swarthmore, she was President of the Peaslee Debate Society and led her school to its first debate national championship win in decades. Her senior year, she was the top-ranked debater in the country, earning her the American Parliamentary Debate Association’s “Speaker of the Year” award.
