This Fair Housing Act (FHA) lawsuit, brought by the Fair Housing Council of Greater San Antonio and two individuals, challenged the strict rental terms, rules, and conditions that a Texas property management company imposed on tenants with children, in violation of the FHA's prohibitions on familial status discrimination.
Plaintiffs filed the complaint on May 2, 2018. On March 6, 2019, Chief Judge Orlando L. Garcia of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas denied defendants' motion to dismiss and allowed plaintiffs' claims to proceed. The parties subsequently reached a confidential settlement.
