LITIGATION ASSOCIATE

Relman, Dane & Colfax, is accepting applications for a litigation associate position in its Washington, DC, office. 

Responsibilities

The associate will litigate cases in state and federal courts, write and review briefs, motion papers, and affidavits, interview and prepare witnesses, take and defend depositions, and participate in all aspects of the Firm's cases.  The level of responsibility will depend upon the experience of the applicant.

Experience and Qualifications

Applicants should have a demonstrated commitment to civil rights enforcement, strong academic credentials, superior research, writing, and verbal skills, and the ability to carry a varied caseload.  The Firm seeks applicants with a clerkship and/or one to four years of litigation experience.

FAIR LENDING COMPLIANCE ASSOCIATE

Relman, Dane & Colfax, a civil rights law firm, is accepting applications for a fair lending compliance associate position in its Washington, DC, office. 

Responsibilities

The associate will counsel financial institutions on compliance with fair lending and consumer protection laws.  Responsibilities associated with the position include managing compliance matters, interacting with institutional clients, analyzing client data, working with statistical experts, and preparing presentations to regulators. The level of responsibility will depend upon the experience of the applicant.

Experience and Qualifications

The Firm especially seeks applicants with fair lending litigation or compliance experience. 

Applicants should have a demonstrated commitment to civil rights enforcement, strong academic credentials, superior research, writing, and verbal skills, and client management experience.  A background in statistics or experience with the use of statistics in discrimination cases is preferred.

Relman Civil Rights Fellowship

Each year, the Relman Civil Rights Fellowship offers one talented and committed new attorney the opportunity to litigate important civil rights cases with experienced practitioners at Relman, Dane & Colfax.  We created the fellowship to help us provide clients with legal services of the highest quality while promoting social justice through vigorous enforcement of our nation's civil rights laws.

Relman Civil Rights Fellows work closely with the firm's attorneys on cutting-edge cases in civil rights law.  Fellows are deeply involved in all aspects and stages of litigation, from developing and investigating cases, interviewing clients, drafting pleadings, and appearing in court.  Past fellows have gone on to pursue exciting and fulfilling careers as civil rights lawyers and public defenders.

Summer associates provide important assistance in many of the firm's cases, including drafting discovery and briefs, interviewing witnesses and drafting declarations, conducting research, and investigating the claims of individuals seeking representation from the firm.  Summer associates have frequent opportunities to attend hearings, mediations, depositions, and press conferences.
